Creating a visual story of the people behind the practice and the way they work together.

Matthew Jones Architects — Team & Brand Photography

The photography project for Matthew Jones Architects was one of my favourite commercial sessions to date.

The brief was to create professional headshots for the five members of the team, but also to produce a wider collection of images that would show the people behind the practice, their working environment and the way they collaborate.

For the individual portraits, I set up a mobile studio in a separate room at the office, using a white background and consistent lighting.

I paid particular attention to keeping the posing and lighting consistent across the team, creating a cohesive set of professional headshots that can be used across the company website, LinkedIn and other marketing materials.

Alongside the headshots, we created a range of environmental and branding images. These included photographs of Matthew working at his desk, interacting with members of the team and discussing projects around the computer.

We also captured smaller details, such as hands working with architectural plans and screens displaying project work — images that help tell the story of the practice.

A key part of the session was photographing Matthew not only as an architect, but as the owner and leader of the practice. These environmental portraits were designed to communicate his professional identity while still feeling natural and connected to the working environment.

We also photographed Michelle at reception, using the architecture and interior of the office as part of the composition. The framed project drawings, interior details and prominent Matthew Jones Architects branding helped create a strong sense of place.

The team photographs were particularly important to the brief. Alongside a more formal group portrait looking towards the camera, we created natural images showing the team together, discussing projects and documents and working collaboratively. These photographs were designed to communicate professionalism, connection and the positive atmosphere within the practice.

I was very pleased with how the session came together. Good preparation from the team and the office environment gave us the opportunity to create a varied and cohesive collection of photographs — not simply portraits, but images that tell a story about the people, the place and the practice behind the brand.

The final photographs can now be used across the company's website, social media and other marketing materials, giving Matthew Jones Architects a stronger and more personal visual presence.
